The Viennese architecture firm PPAG was looking for someone who could help them realize their ideas for a new website. It has now been more than 10 years since we took on this project, whose goal was to put PPAG's concrete visions into practice. Despite the challenges that come with a project like this, we succeeded, and the result is a design that is still in use today.
Easy to update
Together with WordPress, we developed a system that lets PPAG prepare their graphics and floor plans in Illustrator as usual and then upload them directly to the website as SVGs. All links to the relevant taxonomies, categories and colors are automatically taken over from the database. On top of that, numerous filter functions in the front end help visitors find their way around PPAG's extensive portfolio.
Night vision and a mobile game
It is nice to see when a client, despite the great challenges that projects like this involve, doesn't lose their sense of play and detail. Once the overall design was in place, we also integrated a night vision mode that switches on automatically after sunset. It gives the whole project and its design an extra likeable, playful visual touch.
For the mobile version, however, we had to come up with something special. We developed a game-like interface in which you push the PPAG logo onto different buildings to get more information about each project.
